About the job

The DC Power Technician performs work associated with the addition and/or removal of communications power equipment (rectifiers, batteries, cabinets). Run, lace and terminate power, ground cable, and alarm connections as well as construction of infrastructure related to DC power systems. This role assists with project coordination while interfacing with customers and field representatives to monitor all installation requirements.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities.


  • Excellent working knowledge of DC Power Operation

  • Experience with all battery types; VRLA, flooded 24, 48, 120 and 480 VDC

  • Experience replacement and troubleshooting all types

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience as a Level 3 Technician

  • Good working knowledge of rectifiers, inverters, and cabling

  • Experience running all types of cabling up to 750 MCM

  • Excellent knowledge and experience using all related tooling

  • Operation of meters and test equipment

  • Experience installing overhead ironwork and cable ladder

  • Clean and expedient lacing / stitching capability

  • Ability to perform “hot” cuts and circuit landing

  • Experience / proficiency in DC plant “hot slides”

  • Thorough understanding and hands-on with circuit protection devices, fuse, breaker, MOV

  • Good working knowledge and understanding of plant alarming and telemetry

  • Good understanding and operation of plant controllers for various OEMs

  • I/O connection points analog and digital

  • Good working knowledge of computer, Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.

  • Excellent inter-personal communication skills written and verbal

  • Proven ability to lead a crew (up to 6)
